The North Islands are all about immersion. Travel to the North Islands and be centered by the calming effects of true island-living. Popular for its tranquil and night-life appeal, you can take in the day lounging on the beach, find yourself amongst friendly locals conversing; enjoying a snorkeling adventure among docile nurse sharks or simply enjoying the local food and drinks.

Ambergris Caye

Ambergris Caye in the North Islands is Belize’s largest island, approximately 36 miles long. Here, you can snorkel or dive with hundreds species of fish and coral found in areas like Hol Chan Marine Reserve, located inside the Belize Barrier Reef, the largest reef system in the northern hemisphere. Also be sure to swim with the docile nurse sharks at Shark Ray Alley, a must-see experience. Looking for adventure on land? Be sure to check out San Pedro, the island’s largest town on the island. San Pedro’s cobblestone streets are frequented by golf carts and offer a wide assortment of accommodations, restaurants, bars and shops that have something for everyone.

Caye Caulker

Looking to go slow? Check out Caye Caulker, where barefoot bliss is exactly what this island offers. In fact, the main mode of transportation is by foot or bicycle on the sandy roads of this five-mile-long island. Just south of Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker is the perfect spot for diving, snorkeling, wind surfing and fishing. Another must-visit tour in the Caye Caulker area is the manatee tour at Swallow Caye, where manatees can be seen year-round in this protected area. With all these things to do, you may need some time to relax. Be sure to soak up the sun at The Split, the waterway that splits the island, where you can take in the beauty of island life.
